Study Shows that Chiropractic Care Could Help to Reduce Blood Pressure

Blood Pressure CuffPart of our care at Back to Care Chiropractic in Buena Park is devoted to the wellness of our patients. Keeping them informed about the most recent studies and technologies that can improve their health plays a big part in what Dr. Bahram Goshtasbi and our team believe. A recent study published at the Journal of Human Hypertension shows that chiropractic adjustments were better in lowering blood pressure than two medications combined. This means that chiropractic care can help an estimated 103 million U.S. adults who have high blood pressure, according to new statistics from the American Heart Association. That's nearly half of all adults in the United States.

The research conducted by George Bakris M.D. brings a lot of hope to many people's lives because high blood pressure is a "silent killer". People who suffer from high blood pressure (also referred to as HBP, or hypertension) most of the time do not present any obvious symptoms. When left untreated, the damage that high blood pressure does to your circulatory system is a significant contributing factor to heart attack, stroke and other health threats.

George Bakris M.D was very excited after checking the results of his study, he said: "not only does it work, we saw no side effects".

Buena Park Chiropractic Care Approach to Wellness

High blood pressure is when your blood pressure, the force of blood flowing through your blood vessels, is consistently too high. The number of Americans at risk for heart attacks and strokes just got a lot higher, accordant to the American Heart Association in a study published this year.

Bakris study was a an eight-week research, where 25 patients with early-stage high blood pressure were specifically adjusted (first and second neck vertebra) and had significantly lowered their blood pressure compared to 25 similar patients who were given "sham" chiropractic adjustments! Those who received the "real" chiropractic adjustment had an average of 14 millimeters of mercury DROP with the "top" number and an 8 millimeter GREATER drop in the bottom number.

George Bakris M.D. said, "when the statistician brought me the data, I actually didn't believe it. It was way too good to be true". The statistician said, "I didn't believe it either, but we checked for everything and there it was".

The researches suggested that injury to the neck earlier in life can affect blood flow in the arteries at the base of the skull.
